At a Glance

Founded in 1857 and incorporated in 1866 by the state Legislature. Eli Thayer, then a member of the Congress from Massachusetts, named the town after Ceres, the Greek goddess of grain and harvest, because of the agricultural opportunities in the area at that time. The town now features a population of nearly 2,000 citizens.

Ceredo's official boundaries are the Ohio River to the north, Twelvepole Creek to the east, Airport Access Road to the south, and Kenova on the west.
