Marshall University Sports

Though Marshall University offers fourteen varsity sports, from Swimming to Tennis, to Basketball, Marshall University Football, in particular, has become a perennial tradition for the Greater Huntington area. Though set back due to the tragedy in the 1970s, Marshall Football has won two National Championships, in 1992 and 1996 and, since 1991, Marshall carries an impressive 105-10 record at home.

The newly expanded Joan C. Edwards Stadium, located just off the Marshall campus on the corner of 20th Street and 3rd Avenue, offers seating for 38,016 spectators. Single-game and season tickets are available through the Marshall University Athletic Ticket Office .


Marshall's home basketball games are played in the Cam Henderson Center on 3rd Avenue, between 16th and 20th Streets. Both Men's and Women's teams play in the Center, which boasts a seating capacity of more than 9,600.

Events in the Cam Henderson Center include "Jam the Cam," which recently set a Mid-American Conference attendance record at a women's basketball game. More details on Jam the Cam will be available as the schedules are released.

The Ritter Park Tennis Center is a public facility with eleven hard courts beautifully situated in Ritter Park. It is open year-round and offers programs for everyone, from beginner to advanced, junior and adult. The Ritter Park Tennis Center believes in making tennis available for everyone. Tennis is everything you've heard it is, a great way to have fun and get fit. It is an ideal sport for a healthy heart, mind and body. Not only that, it is a sport you can play for a lifetime.

Ground Zero Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a full-fledged' Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy with Certified Purple Belt Instructors. They also provide cross-training in Judo, Boxing, Submission Wrestling, & Street Fighting Concepts.

Huntington Roadrunners Club

River Cities Therapeutic Riding Center (RCTRC) is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt, non-profit organization, dedicated to the well being of children and adults through equine facilitated therapy. They provide equine facilitated therapy and recreational therapy services to children and adults with disabilities. Therapeutic activities are designed to assist people to reach independence, as well as obtain a quality of life with enjoyment, confidence, and self-fulfillment. Their programs include; equine facilitated therapy, hippotherapy, therapeutic horseback riding, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, general riding lessons, scout programs for boys and girls.
