About Greater Huntington Portal

For the past couple of years (2005-2006,) several community members have been meeting to pursue common solutions to improve the Greater Huntington area. These individuals represent a broad spectrum of business, government, education, tourism, civic groups and concerned citizens. One of the solutions was to create a common community web portal.

This website is currently under construction. It is planned to connect you with all information about Greater Huntington area you would need. This is where you will be able to find documents, information, imagery, forms, news and events. It is also our hope to make this medium a way to interconnect government, community, industry and business, tourism so that we can all work towards making greater Huntington a better place to live and visit.

The Greater Huntington Portal provides a combined directory for all the websites that serve the Greater Huntington area and foster an online community for the city as well as serve as a common external marketing tool. The site contains community based information that is accessible to anyone in the world, 24 hours a day. Some examples include community calendar and news feed from local and state media. Any businesses', organizations' or a persons' personal website could be listed and linked, free of charge, making this Huntington’s largest online directory. Without such a tool, Greater Huntington based websites are just left out in cyberspace to be found via hit or miss searching on the big search engines like Yahoo or Google.

We hope that the Greater Huntington Portal will also feature subscriber email list, chat rooms, message boards, free classified listings, online city services, live video from the tri-state major events in the future.
